Sports law is an umbrella term for a number of often overlapping legal disciplines in the world of sports. In addition to the below focus areas concerning the legal and commercial aspects of football, I also provide personal advice and act as a professional sparring partner to all stakeholders in the world of football concerning general business law as well as employment and association law and IPR.

–  Football clubs

Specialised advice and professional sparring to clubs on all sporting issues, particularly in relation to national and international transfers:

​

  • negotiation, review and drafting of all types of contracts, including transfer, player, agency, scouting, coach, employment, executive service and sponsor contracts

  • handling of professional club transfers in accordance with DBU and FIFA regulations and systems, including TPO, protection of minors and TMS

  • claims for payment of transfer fees, FIFA training compensation and solidarity contributions

  • disciplinary and licensing procedures nationally before DBU and the Danish NOC and internationally before UEFA, FIFA and CAS

  • various management-related issues concerning compliance, by-laws and association law and commercial issues – including enforcement of clubs' intellectual property rights.

–  Football agents

 

I have in-depth knowledge of the football agent industry and know how it works in practice nationally and internationally. I advise long-standing, new and potential agents and offer my services in regard to:

​

  • negotiation, review and drafting of all types of contracts, including transfer, player and coach contracts

  • advice on all aspects of national and international transfers

  • international contact to clubs, national associations and other agents

  • DBU’s written exam for certified football agents

  • general compliance issues at management level, business operations, individual employment contracts with the agency's employees, as well as all types of commercial contracts.

–  Football players & coaches

​

Specialised advice and professional sparring for players and their parents as well as coaches on all issues of sports law:

​

  • negotiation, review and drafting of all types of contracts, including player, loan, termination, agency, coach, sponsor and other commercial contracts

  • guidance to young players and their parents on choice of agent and on the legal and commercial issues involved in choosing a career as a professional player

  • disciplinary procedures concerning, for example, bans, doping or match-fixing

  • employment-related issues, including handling of coach dismissals through negotiation, mediation and, if necessary, arbitration or before the ordinary courts.

–  National associations & grassroots

​

Specialised advice and professional sparring to all stakeholders of football, including all regulatory football authorities:

​​

  • review of existing rules and regulations of national and local tournaments and drafting of proposed amendments, eg. as a result of new binding international UEFA and FIFA regulations

  • national and international disciplinary procedures as well as litigation before the ordinary courts

  • general compliance issues at management level as well as association law and commercial contracts.

–  Investors & sponsors

Legal advice to Danish and foreign investors and sponsors on the special legal issues and challenges of football, such as:

  • negotiation, review, and drafting of all types of commercial contracts, such as investment agreements, club ownership agreements, and sponsorship contracts

  • compliance with FIFA’s ban on TPI and TPO

  • payment of contractual claims.
